The link that I have
attached above, is exploring where Canada is in, in terms of equality and
racism. Canada is still facing ongoing discrimination within different ethnic
groups. It will and seems to be an ongoing issue in society, and classifies as a, "Social Issue." I have attached this news report
because it has a deep connection with my book, "The Secret Life of
Bees." My book discusses how Rosaleen, Lily's Housekeeper, Rosaleen faces racist
comments and tries to fit in as a black women in this harsh society. The
article emphasizes where are future is spiraling into, when it states. Unless we're able to eliminate discrimination and create a situation where all people are respected, all our lives are diminished" This is an important issue, because the book I am reading took place quite a while back in 1964. If this issue, is still carrying on, there needs to be a stop to it or else it will only get worse and affect many more innocent people. The book also emphasizes that these discriminated women do not give up. They fight for the equality and don't back down to the situation. We must, as a community enforce the equality , and make racism vanish. The article further explains, this situation in the present day! Therefore, this article and book relate due to the emphasis on the social issue, racism.
